Pursuant to California Code of Regulations Section 2672 owners or operators of underground storage tanks used to store gasoline or other petroleum products at permitted sites must apply to the appropriate regulatory agency for permanent underground storage tank closure in the event that said storage tanks are to be permanently removed from the permitted site. The owner or operator of an underground storage tank being closed must demonstrate to the satisfaction of the local agency that no unauthorized release of hazardous substance has occurred. This demonstration must be based on soil sample analysis performed during or immediately after closure activities [Cal. Code Reg Section 2672(d)].

This treatise reports and summarizes the results of Quantitative Gas Chromatography Analysis of Four (4) soil samples collected during UST removal from specified locations in a dirt pit that had accomodated two (2) 12000 gallon double walled, fiberglass coated underground storage tanks. Reported herein are the Analytical Results including concentration estimates for Gasoline Range Organics (C4-C10) and Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylene and Methyl Tert Butyl Ether, detected in these soil samples.
